Mrs. Leggett grew up in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC, where she attended Catholic elementary and high school. In search of warmer weather, she headed south to the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) and received a Bachelor of Science in Management. During her time in college, Mrs. Leggett became involved in a variety of philanthropic efforts serving the children and schools of the Columbia area. It was these experiences that inspired her to continue her education and pursue a career in education. After graduation, Mrs. Leggett moved to Los Angeles and received her CA teaching credential at California State University, Los Angeles. She has been teaching in Catholic schools in the Los Angeles area since 2014. Outside of school, Mrs. Leggett enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with her family, friends, and dog!
Mrs. Leggett is thrilled to be joining the NDA family as the English Language Arts teacher for grades 5 and 6, as well as the Religion teacher for grades 6, 7, and 8. Her ELA classes will focus on growing students’ critical reading skills of both literary and informational texts, as well as their writing and communication skills. Students can expect to participate in novel studies, class discussions, and a variety of presentations over the course of the school year. In middle school religion, Mrs. Leggett will challenge the students to think critically about their faith and identify ways in which they, as young leaders, can make a positive impact on the world around them.
