Mrs. Duronslet began her dance training at three years old and started dancing professionally on television at the age of seven. She has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Hiphop, and African to name a few. Most of her childhood and teen years she danced and performed under the teachings of Debbie Allen. One of her fondest childhood memories is dancing for the 63rd Academy Awards. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy, she attended UC Berkeley where she earned a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the Haas School of Business. While at Berkeley she started and ran a successful dance troupe that did outreach for local schools. Upon graduation, she decided to return to Los Angeles and dance professionally. Mrs. Duronslet has danced for and toured with many artists including Usher, Will Smith, Beyonce, and Mary J Blige. In 2006, Mrs. Duronslet returned to her alma mater and became the Director of Dance at Notre Dame Academy. She then attended Cal State Long Beach in 2013 and earned her MA in Dance Education. In addition to dancing, Mrs. Duronslet is also a gifted photographer and has been photographing the elementary and high school students for many years. Check out her photos of the high school's senior athletes in the gym.
Though this is Mrs. Duronslet's fourteenth year teaching at the high school, this is her first year teaching middle school elective dance classes. She is excited to bring her passion for dance and foster a love of self expression through movement to the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. She is teaching two dance courses: Dance Appreciation and HipHop dance. Students will learn the basic dance techniques in each class while gaining greater self-confidence, increasing their fitness, and building social and emotional strength.
