The NDASLA Board of Directors is charged with the governance of Notre Dame Academy and Notre Dame Academy Elementary Schools.  Its overall mandate is to ensure the schools are operated in accordance with the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the constitution, charism, and spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame.  The board's responsibilities include long term planning for the schools, approval and monitoring of their strategic plans, ensuring the financial health of the schools, and overseeing the management and operation of the schools.

The board, with the approval of the Sisters of Notre Dame, hires the president / head of schools, currently Lilliam Paetzold.  The board does not hire or supervise any other personnel of the schools.  The president / head of schools and the supporting administration, faculty, and staff are responsible for the day-to-day  management and operation of the schools.

The board consists primarily of alumni and parents of alumni, along with other individuals committed to supporting Catholic education in the spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame.  A limited number of parents of currently enrolled students is permitted to serve on the board, but many more are active as non-board members of the board's committees.  A description of the board's standing committees and their responsibilities is available here.  Parents interested in serving on a committee should contact LIlliam Paetzold, president and head of school.
